Oyster shells are among my favorite artistic subjects. In addition to their calming qualities each shell is unique, much like a snowflake or our own fingerprints. Rendered beautifully in art, the delicate colors of the shells emerge: deep blues, aqua, and turquoise; pinks and earthy beige tones; yellows, greens, and grays (for some, I exaggerate colors as you will see in my wild technicolor paintings). The process of painting oyster shells brings a sense of calm and serenity to me. As the shells grow in water over time and achieve a beauty that would otherwise remain hidden, I approach the artistic process with patience and time, allowing their beauty to be revealed in various forms. Just as I find solace in creating my shell art I hope these original paintings will remind you of the peaceful waters of your favorite coastal spot.
